Free Tax Preparation Available
IRS-Certified TAX-AIDE volunteers are available to prepare and electronically file your tax return again this tax season. the service is free of charge, and available for low and middle income taxpayers of ALL ages. An appointment is required at most sites. The volunteers are IRS-Ceritifed to prepare most basic tax returns, making sure the tax payer receives all eligible deductions and credits. They do not prepare for taxpayers that haev income from rental properties or for tax payers with complicated business returns. The AARP TAX-AIDE program is sponsored by the IRS and the AARP Foundation. Taxpayers should bring Photo ID, Social Security cards for the whole household, W-2's from each employer, all 1099 forms, unemployment, interest, dividends, etc. any other documents necessary to complete your return. Documentation of medical expenses, taxes paid, mortgage interest paid and charitable contributions if itemizing. Copy of 2012 tax return. Check or bank document with routing number and account number if direct deposit is desired. TAX-AIDE is at the following sites: Port Angeles Senior Center by appt. Shipley center in Sequim, by appointment on Weds. 12-4 and Saturdays 9-4, call 683-6806 for appt. Forks city Hall, every other Saturday, Feb. 8th & 22nd, March 8th & 22nd, April 5th from 10 am to 4 pm. First come, first served. No appt. necessary.
