Clallam County accepts state money for river buy outs
October 12th, 2005 - 7:29am
(Port Angeles) -- Clallam County will use more than 925-thousand dollars for property buys along part of the Dungeness River.
County commissioners yesterday accepted the grant from the state Fish and Wildlife Department. The money will be used to continue buying homes at River's End in the estuary of the river.
Those homes will be destroyed.
Officials say the property buys are effective in preventing damage caused by flooding and making for better salmon habitat.
