November 7th, 2006 - 6:02am

(Undated) -- The National Weather Service has lifted the flood warnings for rivers in Clallam County. The rivers crested last night and started falling below flood stage early this morning. But there are still problems with lots of water. The weather service still has warnings up for small stream and urban flooding. Highway 112 is still closed from Pillar Point to the junction with Highway 113 The Old La Push Road is also closed. Highway 110 between Forks and LaPush is open again. The Hoko-Ozette Road has reopened to traffic last night following the removal of a mudslide. Clallam County is one of 18 counties in Washington State to declare an emergency related to the heavy rains and flooding over the past three days.

Meantime, the Coast Guard plucked an elderly couple, their two dogs and two cats yesterday afternoon after the Bogachiel River flooded their home east of La Push. A Coast Guard helicopter from Port Angeles was called in to make the rescue. No one was hurt.

More rain is expected as flooding rivers across Western Washington reach their crests today. Warm and windy storms spawned by a weather pattern known as the Pineapple Express began easing last night but are not done yet. Already the storms have been blamed for the death of an elk hunter, an undetermined number people have been evacuated.
