DUI listed as cause of serious Sequim accident

(Seqium) -- Investigators say a man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when the van he was driving slammed into a tree near Sequim Bay State Park.
State Patrol Troopers say 56-year-old Larry Followell of Beaver was driving a Dodge Caravan that left Highway 101 about 7:15 this morning. Followell suffered head and internal injuries and was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Thirty-five year old Valerie Godiness of Port Angeles was a passenger in the car and suffered head and internal injuries and taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles.
Followell has been cited for vehicular Assault and DUI. Both people were wearing seatbelts.
