Police and dogs converge on Port Angeles
September 18th, 2007 - 5:40am
(Port Angeles)-- You may have noticed a lot of out-of-town police
cars in Port Angeles. No, it's not a crime wave, but
it is a story with a real bite. It's a training seminar for police and their canine
companions. Police Chief Terry Gallagher says 127 police units from around the state have come to Port Angeles. The three-day conference started on Monday.
Part of the training exercises involves moving the canine units around the area. It means a lot of out-of-town police cars moving through the area.
The Port Angeles Police Department currently has two
K-9 units, although one dog is close to retirement.
Whether or not he is replaced may depend on the
Department's budget.
