(Port Angeles) -- Power is still out at hundreds of homes across Clallam County.
Clallam County PUD says most of the west end of the county still doesn't have power. Neah Bay, Clallam Bay and west of Joyce were hit especially hard.
In the Port Angeles-Sequim area, there are also outages in the upper Mount Pleasant, Monroe, Deer Park and Township Line Roads.
The lights have been off in the Lower Elwha area and along Edgewood Drive. Parts of the Sequim area and the eastern end of the county are still without electricity.
At one point, 17-thousand PUD customers were without power.
Nine thousand Port Angeles City Light customers customers lost power when a tree fell on a power line on F Street at around 3 yesterday morning. Just after power came back on it went down again for many of the same customers when another tree fell at Park and Race.
And many couldn't get internet access or use cell phones. A fiber optic cable was severed at Discovery Bay knocking out the communications.
It all came as the result of a strong wind storm that blew through western Washington. The National Weather Service says gusts in the western Strait of Juan de Fuca topped 70 miles an hour. There was one report of a 92 mile an hour gust at Clallam Bay.
