Big part of downtown construction project to happend Monday

(Port Angeles) -- A major part of the downtown Port Angeles Gateway project is set to happen early next week.
Monday, crews are set to pour the pavilion deck on the structure at the corner of Front and Lincoln streets.
The big pour was supposed to happen yesterday, but the recent snow, wet and cold conditions forced a delay.
Weather could also hamper Monday's scheduled pour as well.
When it does happen, about 1000 yards of concrete will be required for the pavilion deck. Officials say 20 trucks will bring 70 to 80 loads of concrete to the site during a one-day pouring process. Trucks will pour concrete from both the west and east sides of the pavilion deck. In order for trucks to access the east side of the site, Lincoln Street between Railroad Avenue and Front Street will be closed during the one-day pouring process. But the city plans to keep Laurel Street open at the times Lincoln has to be shut down. That may mean suspending the watermain and sidewalk project that is going on along Laurel downtown.
