Longtime PA police officer dies

(Port Angeles) -- The Port Angeles police department has lost a long-time officer. Brian Raymond passed away Tuesday night in Tacoma. Details of his death have not been released, due to privacy laws. But Raymond reportedly passed away following compications from sugery. He was 54. In May, Raymond would have served 25 years as a police officer for Port Angeles. He was planning to retire this spring. He started with the city in 1977 as a seasonal worker for the Parks Department. He was hired as a temporary Jailer with the Port Angeles Police Department in March of 1980. He also worked for the city as a meter reader. Raymond became a full-time police officer in May of 1983. Brian is survived by two adult daughters, one grandchild, his mother, sister and a brother. A memorial service is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 5th at 1 pm at the Vern Burton Center. Flags have been orders lowered to half staff in Port angeles in honor of Raymond.
