(Port Angeles) -- Clallam County has a new Veterans Assistant.
57-year old Scott Buck will replace Dick Stumbaugh.
A retired 25-year Navy man, Buck was chosen by a five-person team from a field of 17 applicants.
Committee members say Buck was chosen for his involvement in veterans' reentry and employment issues and his active and reserve service.
Buck's job will include administering the county's Veteran Relief Fund.
The rural Port Angeles man will work closely with the veterans service officers of the V-F-W and the Disabled American Veterans.
He'll get county employee orientation on May 19th, with his first month on the job at the Courthouse.
Buck will eventually work from the county Veterans Center on Francis Street.
