OPNET busts Blyn grow op

May 8th, 2008 - 7:25am

(Port Angeles) -- The Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested four men during a search warrant service Wednesday near Blyn.

OPNET, assisted by the Sequim Police Department, the Clallam County Sheriff's Department, Coast Guard Investigative Service and the Border Patrol, executed a search warrant in the 271-hundred block of Highway 101.

The men were taken into custody without incident.

Early this year, OPNET began an investigation into the sale of marijuana in the Sequim Bay area after citizen complaints.

On Wednesday, the search warrant was issued by a Clallam County Superior Court Judge after it was determined that probable cause existed to believe that marijuana was being sold from the residence.

A two and a half year old child was also in the residence at the time the search warrant was served.

The child was later turned over to a Child Protective Services case worker.

Over two pounds of processed marijuana and cash were seized during the search.

A marijuana growing operation was discovered in one of the detached buildings.

Fifty growing marijuana plants were discovered, along with growing equipment, such as halide lights and ballasts.

Also discovered in the residence was equipment used to extract T-H-C, the active ingredient in marijuana, from the leaves of the marijuana plant and convert it into a smokeable form.

All four suspects were booked into the Clallam County Correctional Facility on a variety of felony charges dealing drug delivery, possession and manufacturing.

The case file has been forwarded to the Clallam County Prosecutor's Office for review and the formal filing of charges.
