City agreement with Humane Society extended

(Port Angeles) -- The Port Angeles City Council will extend and amend a service agreement with the Clallam County Humane Society for animal control services.
Police Chief Terry Gallagher says a previous contract between the entities expired at the end of 2007 that had been in effect for almost three years.
The Council voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Gary Braun to sign the agreement to extend and amend the service agreement with the Humane Society.
Humane Society Executive Director Scott Chandler has told the City he intends to present a new proposal to the City before July 1st.
If the Council accepts that proposal, it would most likely not take effect until 2009.
