Chipseal work on Hurricane Ridge Rd next week

May 9th, 2008 - 2:47pm

(Port Angeles) -- Be prepared for construction activity on the way to Hurricane Ridge next week.

Monday through Friday, a contractor will chipseal the lower five miles of the Hurricane Ridge Road, from its intersection with the Mt. Angeles Road to the Heart O' the Hills entrance station.

Visitors should be prepared for minor delays and are urged to use caution and drive slowly through work zones.

The process requires a dry road surface and temperatures over 45 degrees Fahrenheit and may be delayed if the necessary conditions are not met.

Above Heart O' the Hills, construction contractors will begin installing underground utility conduits and vaults alongside the Hurricane Ridge Road, above the tunnels.

In addition, work will begin on a new stone masonry wall at the Double Parking scenic view point 6 miles above the entrance station.

The road is closed to bicycles above the Heart O' the Hills entrance station.

Motorists should expect minor delays this week and be prepared to drive slowly through all work zones.
