Local agencies to mark law enforcement memorial

(Port Angeles) -- Local law enforcement agencies are observing National Police Week.
Ceremonies will include a brief memorial service on Thursday beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the flagpoles in front of the courthouse in Port Angeles.
The Sheriff's Department Honor Guard will present the colors.
A proclamation from the county commissioners will be read, along with a short address from Sheriff Bill Benedict.
Following the ceremony, there will be a 21 Bell Salute at the replica of the Liberty Bell in Veteran's Memorial Park.
The event honors law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
Citizens are invited to attend the ceremonies.
Local citizens can show their support by tying blue ribbons on their vehicles, at their homes, or places of business.
Members of the public are also encouraged to show their support by using blue porch lights which may be purchased at local businesses that sell light bulbs.
