Proposed crematory spot may have been used already

May 15th, 2008 - 6:25am

(Carlsborg) -- Bodies awaiting cremation have been stored in a warehouse at the Carlsborg Business Park. It's the same property where a local funeral home seeks to install a crematory. Jason Linde of Linde Family Funeral Services tells our media partner the Sequim Gazette his company may have used the building at 110 Business Park Loop to briefly store cadavers before they were taken to Seattle to be cremated. Linde wants to put a crematory chamber at the facility to avoid shipping local cadavers out of town. The county hearings examiner has approved Linde's plan. But neighbors are fighting the proposal and have hired attorney Gerald Steele. Steele produced affidavits from refrigeration technicians that claim they saw cadavers at the site. He says that's against the code. Linde says funeral services fit into the county's approved uses. His application now only deals with adding a crematory. County officials say they're looking into the claim.
