Sequim to tackle sub-area plan
May 16th, 2008 - 8:27am
(Sequim) -- Sequim city officials say they still want to form a sub-area plan for the city.
But it'll be about another month before the controversial plan comes back to the city council.
The plan right now aims to retain the look of downtown Sequim and making a more pedestrian-friendly central part.
It would create two commercial zoning districts. But they both carry much higher density. Some city council members have balked at that idea.
The new zoning ideas could bring much taller buildings downtown as it would allow a floor of commercial space another floor for offices and top floors for residential spots.
On June 2nd, the city council will devote an entire two and half hour study session to the plan after staff said they need more guidance on where to go next.
