Remains found in Port Angeles still a mystery
May 19th, 2008 - 11:15am
(Port Angeles) -- The Washington State Patrol Crime Laboratory is trying to identify some human remains found buried in the west
end of Port Angeles.
Last week, on May 14th, a homeowner on Bean Road
was using a small tractor to level his back yard, when
he partially uncovered what he believed to be a human
body. He called the Clallam County Sheriff's office,
and deputies came out immediately. The body parts were
badly decomposed and could not be identified, so the
Sheriff's Department called on the State Patrol Crime
Lab, which excavated the remains and processed the
immediate area. Everything found was sent to the Lab
for complete forensic examination.
The location on Bean Road is the same location that
had been searched by detectives in 2007, in an attempt
to locate a person reported missing in the mid 1980's.
During that search, detectives were unable to locate
anything. Chief Criminal Deputy Ron Cameron told KONP News
the investigation is ongoing, and more details will
follow, if and when the remains are identified.
