(Port Angeles) -- A new assistant principal at Stevens Middle School has been appointed for the upcoming school year. Bryan O'Donnell takes the position beginning July 1st. O'Donnell replaces Jeri Goebel, who has accepted a position as principal at Key Peninsula Middle School in the Peninsula School District. O'Donnell began his tenure in the Port Angeles School District at Stevens in September 2003. He's taught sixth grade, plus seventh and eighth grade remedial math, language arts and social studies. O'Donnell served on the middle school transition team during the combining of Roosevelt and Stevens Middle Schools last year. He's also been a member of the district's language arts and instructional materials committees, and Stevens site and student assistance teams. Previously, O'Donnell was a chief petty officer for the United States Navy. O'Donnell received a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College in 2002, a Masters of Science in Education from Old Dominion University in 2003 and his principal's certification from Western Washington University in 2007. O'Donnell's appointment will be placed on Monday's school board meeting agenda.
