Sequim woman injured in 101 accident at Carlsborg

July 2nd, 2008 - 3:17pm

(Carlsborg) -- The State Patrol says a traffic accident on Highway 101 at Carlsborg sent a Sequim woman to the hospital late this morning.

Trooper Krista Hedstrom says a crash happened around 11:40 a.m. near Sunny Farms.

She says a dump truck eastbound on Highway 101 smashed into the passenger side of a southbound 1999 Honda Civic that failed to yield while crossing the Highway from Mill Road to Parkwood Boulevard.

Hedstrom says the Honda driver -- 80-year old Muriel Urban -- sustained a minor head injury and cuts to both arms.

She was transported to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. The dump truck driver, 49-year old William Glass of Port Angeles, was not injured.

The investigation into the crash continues as troopers had the right hand eastbound lane closed for several hours.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Reports say the cause of the accident was Urban's Failure to Yield. Citations are pending.
