PA council reacts to manager resignation

July 11th, 2008 - 9:21am

(Port Angeles) -- The fallout continues after the resignation of Port Angeles' city manager.

And so far, the city council members that will talk about problems with the council, won't get specific about who is to blame.

City Manager Mark Madsen submitted his letter of resignation Wednesday afternoon. In it he cited a rift among the council has led to hostile environment in which he can no longer lead the city.

The resignation followed two memos last week from Madsen that said certain individual council members' actions in the community and dealing with city issues are the reason. Madsen didn't name the council members.

And the council members contacted by Newsradio 1450 KONP won't say either.

In interviews yesterday, each member contacted said they didn't feel they were the council member Madsen had concerns with. And none would say who they thought the city manager was referring to.

There has been growing tension among the council since three new members began serving terms at the beginning of the year.

Voters elected Cherie Kidd, Don Perry and Dan DiGuillio to seats on the council last fall.
