Approval for controversial PA housing development

July 17th, 2008 - 7:21am

(Port Angeles) -- It took some give and take from both parties, but a controversial development in south Port Angeles has gotten final approval.

The Port Angeles city council this week approved the lastest part the Campbell Avenue Planned Residential Development.

As of a couple of months ago, Green Crow Properties and the City Planning Department were butting heads. Green Crow challenged the city changed some specifications after the work on the project was done. There had been hints of a possible court fight over the project.

The final agreement contains ten issues that have been resolved. Green Crow has agreed to provide a neighborhood park at the development, and meet all requirements pertaining to a wetlands permit on the property. The city council approved the agreement after a short hearing, without calling for a second public hearing.

The Campbell Avenue PRD encompasses 16 and a half acres, located on the south side of Campbell, east of Porter Street and West of Wabash Avenue.
