Outgoing city manager could stay as consultant

(Port Angeles) -- The outgoing city manager in Port Angeles could continue to serve as a consultant.
The Port Angeles City Council will hold a special meeting Tuesday afternoon at 4:30 at City Hall.
One of the agenda items is a possible contract with Mark Madsen. Madsen has resigned as the city manager and will no longer be on the job past the end of next month.
As a consultant, the city could pay Madsen to help with some projects after he leaves.
The council is also expected to talk about how they will come up with a permanent replacement for Madsen.
But the special meeting will not include public comment or council members' statements about the fallout that apparently led to Madsen's departure. The council issued a statement this week in another special meeting.
It pledged the council would work together to move past problems with individual council member actions. Madsen said in his resignation letter he can no longer lead the city because certain individual council members actions created a hostile work environment. He didn't name the council members.
But a group of civic leaders are still pushing for each council member to go on the record as to whether or not they are one who acted inappropriately.
Council member Karen Rogers is the only member to issue such a statement, saying she wasn't involved.
