United Way readies for fundraising effort

(Port Angeles) -- The United Way of Clallam County is getting ready to kick off its annual fund raising drive.

A week from tomorrow the annual "Day of Caring" gets underway in Port Angeles and Sequim.

Traditionally the Day of Caring is a volunteer opportunity to give back to the community. the year United Way is parterning with the local libraries to showcase all the agencies and services in Clallam County which help support families and individuals in the community.

United Way officials say there will be a fair at each of the branches of the North Olympic Library System. Twenty seven United Way partner agencies will be presenting information about services for families in need.

Then the fundraising kicks off. Over the following weeks, community volunteers will try to raise a million dollars. This year's fundraising theme is "Live United." Port Angeles Schools superintendent Dr. Gary Cohn and his wife Sue will serve as the campaign chairs.
