Local diver seeks underwater park in PA

(Port Angeles) -- An underwater dive park inside the Port Angeles
harbor could be a reality in another year.
Long-time diver, water sports enthusiast and local businessman Bill Roberds sees an opportunity for a new recreation area in Port Angeles. The proposed park would be located inside Ediz Hook, at an area owned by the Department of Natural Resources. The dive group would team up with DNR to clean up derelict structures and trash, mark the area with buoys, and put down structures to develop some artificial reefs to attract fish. It would be a no-fishing zone.
Roberds says getting the necessary permits won't be easy.
Roberds sees an underwater dive park as a drawing card for the city.
Roberds figures getting all the permits needed may take about 9-months, and once that's done, the park could be open about 3-months later.
