Sequim stuns Cascade Christian 17-14

(Sequim) -- The Sequim Wolves came up with a goal line stand in the final minute Friday night, holding off Cascade Christian of Puyallup 17-14.
The Cougars (2-1) came into the non-league contest as the 2nd ranked Class 1A team by WashingtonPreps.com.
Trailing 14-6 midway through the 3rd quarter, Sequim (2-1) responded with a 37-yard kickoff return by Jason Harvey to the Cougars 48.
Sequim kept the drive alive, converting a 3rd-and-21 with a 29-yard Brad Woolf run to the Cascade Christian 30.
Two plays later, Drew Rickerson scored on a 31-yard quarterback scramble up the middle to close the margin to 14-12.
Coach Erik Wiker decided for the 2-point conversion attempt from the swinging gate formation.
Quarterback Chris Pruden pitched the ball to Clancy Catelli, who dove across the goal line for the 14-14 tie.
Several plays later, the Wolves forced Cascade Christian's fourth fumble of the contest, recovering at their own 43 as the third quarter expired.
Sequim drove deep into the Cascade Christian red zone before stalling at the Cougars 5-yard line.
Senior Erik Huston booted a 22-yard field goal with 7:20 remaining for a 17-14 Sequim lead.
The Cougars methodically marched down the gridiron to a
first-and-goal at the Sequim 8.
On 4th and goal from the 5-yard line, quarterback Ben Johnson's hurried pass attempt to Tyler Savage fell incomplete in the end zone with 36 seconds left.
Sequim's Rickerson took the knee twice to run out the clock.
Next week, the Cougars play at home against Cedar Park Christian, while the Wolves host Steilacoom in the league opener.
