(Port Angeles) -- A Port Angeles man faces Burglary and Malicious Mischief charges after police made an arrest Wednesday morning on a K-9 track.
Officials say 23-year old Benjamin Wade Dobrowsky was arrested by Port Angeles Police after responding to a burglar alarm at a restaurant in the 15-hundred block of East First Street.
Arriving officers saw the suspect running north from the restaurant across First Street.
Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith says border patrol agents in the area assisted Port Angeles officers.
A Port Angeles K-9 team was deployed to track the suspect.
An officer then located the suspect hiding in the bed of a pickup truck in the 16-hundred block of East Front Street.
He was taken into custody after additional officers arrived and provided assistance.
Officers then began a tactical track "backwards" from the scene of the arrest in an effort to retrace the suspect's intended escape route back to the restaurant.
Along the way officers recovered items believed to have been discarded by the suspect during his flight, including a crow bar, flashlight, and later a jacket.
Authorities says entry to the restaurant was made by forcing a door.
Once inside the suspect did further damage to a cash register.
Damage to the business is estimated at 5-thousand dollars.
Dobrowsky faces charges of 2nd Degree Burglary and 1st Degree Malicious Mischief.
K-9 Jag was treated at the scene by local veterinarian Dr. Dennis Wilcox.
Jag suffered a laceration when he encountered barbed wire during the course of his pursuit of the suspect.
Smith says Jag will be decorated for his efforts.
Dr. Wilcox sutured Jag' s wounds and the K-9 is expected to make a full recovery.
