June 30th, 2009 - 5:52am

(Port Angeles) -- Prosecutors have until tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon to file criminal information against a Port Angeles man accused of threatening to bomb some local retail stores.

40-year old Johannes Laurence Helgeson, the Fourth (IV), is held on 5-thousand dollars bail in the County Jail for investigation of a Threat to Bomb or Injure Property.

In probable cause documents, Prosecutors say Helgeson admitted dialing 9-1-1 from his residence Sunday, playing a pre-recorded statement.

Helgeson allegedly claimed to be an Aryan extremist who had planted 6 explosive devices in the Safeway stores and Wal-Mart in Port Angeles 7 days earlier.

Helgeson's statement also claimed that the explosives were set to go off in one hour, or if they were tampered with.

The man also stated that if the explosives were discovered, his friends would set them off remotely.

A sheriff's deputy and Port Angeles Police officer contacted the man at his home, where he admitted to placing the call and provided the tape recording to officers before being arrested.

At an initial court appearance Monday, Helgeson was placed on a 72-hour hold.

The defendant's mother told the court they are not comfortable with her son being cleared back into her house without his medications.

Judge Brooke Taylor ordered a mental health evaluation for the defendent, setting bail at 5-thousand dollars.

Helgeson's next hearing is set for tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m.
