(Port Angeles) -- A dog wanted in connection with the mauling of a Port Angeles boy is in custody.
The black lab mix was at large for the past two days after the incident in Port Angeles.
Eleven-year-old James Sims was bitten a number of times at his home in the 100 block of Fifth Street Wednesday.
Police say the boy was bitten while his father was away from home.
Port Angeles police deputy chief Brian Smith says the dog was placed in custody after the biting, but escaped when it was being loaded into the Humane Society van.
Meantime, police got a description of a van the boy's father may have been driving.
Later, a van matching the description was stopped. That's when cops discovered the van was stolen, and the father was not driving.
Officers then received a call of a man riding a motorcycle that matched the description of the father.
A track was launched for the father and he was later apprehended downtown. 38-year-old Matt Sims was booked into the jail on two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and criminal mistreatment charges.
The boy was taken by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He has been released.
