Harborworks releases part of draft report on Rayonier property

February 5th, 2010 - 11:00am

(Port Angeles) -- The Port Angeles HarborWorks Public Development Authority has released the first draft of its due diligence report for the Rayonier property.

The draft features a series of sections ranging from environmental issues on the property to economic conditions that may play into developing the property.

The report doesn't provide conclusions or recommendations at this time. It is also missing a cost data and an archaeological section. HarborWorks executive director Jeff Lincoln says those areas will come later this spring.

Lincoln says the report will remain in draft form until all the remaining information is finished.

The due diligence study started last fall and is expected to be wrapped up next month. The Harborworks board will use the information to decide whether or not to move ahead with purchase of the property from Rayonier and what type of development may or may not be appropriate for the site.

Lincoln says he hope releasing portions of the draft early will let all the public and those interested in the site have a better chance to look over the volumes of information.

The released draft portions, numbering hundreds of pages, is available for download at the Harborworks website...paharborworks.org.
