SPORTS: Prep basketball - PA boys down NK 46-38

(Poulsbo) -- The Port Angeles Roughrider boys hit eight straight free throws in the last 40 seconds of the game to down North Kitsap Friday night 46-38 in Poulsbo.

With the win, Port Angeles assured itself a place in the Olympic League playoffs February 19th.

North led 9-8 after one quarter and 22-18 at intermission.

Port Angeles and NK traded basket for basket most of the game, the score was tied 11 times and the lead changed hands 10 times.

NK led 26-25 going into the last period of the low scoring affair, but PA took a 32-30 lead, built that to 37-31, then North was forced to foul to stop the clock.

Colin Wheeler hit two straight freebies and Antonio Stevenson hit six straight to nail down the victory.

Wheeler led PA with 12. North was paced by Berkely Nilles with 10.

PA won the JV game 61-31, NK won the Frosh game 37-31.
