PAHS student collapses and dies while jogging off campus

(Port Angeles) -- Grief counselors are standing by to help students and staff deal with the death of a Port Angeles High School student.

The name of the 17-year-old boy has not been released yet pending notification of family.

But schools superintendent Jane Pryne says she and her staff are saddened by the death. She made counselors available this morning for those who need help.

The junior at PAHS was jogging along Milwaukee Drive on the west side of Port Angeles yesterday afternoon, when he collapsed for no apparent reason.

A nearby nurse administered CPR, but the boy couldn't be saved.
