Local economic summit planned

(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles hopes to join with a number of other local economic development agencies on ways to create jobs locally.
An economic development summit is planned for later this spring.
City manager Kent Myers tells KONP the city hopes to get all the local entities involved with economic development together. He says it's time to make sure each knows what the other is doing about the economy.
The idea for the summit came out of a recent retreat held by the Port Angeles city council. The Clallam County Economic Development Council has also wanted to do strategic planning this year as well.
Myers says they plan to have a professional come in to help make sure the summit turns out something concrete and not just talking points. He says there will be a document outlining what each jurisdiction is doing and holding that entity accountable.
A final date and location has not yet been set. City and economic development officials plan to finalize those details in the next few days.
