Fire destroys boat in yard

(Port Angeles) -- Fire destroyed a pleasure boat stored at a rural Port Angeles residence early Tuesday.

A 9-1-1 call summoned District 2 firefighters to 4219 Cedar Mill Road just before 1 a.m.

Arriving crews found a 32-foot Robinson cabin cruiser fully engulfed in flames.

Crews extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading.

The boat was declared a total loss.

Chief Jon Bugher says the owner used a propane heater in the cabin space. He says you should always use flame-powered heaters in vented spaces only and never leave them unattended.
