New Elwha River bridge closing
March 11th, 2010 - 2:48am
(Port Angeles) -- Crews will put the finishing touches on the new bridge over the Elwha River.
Starting today, the bridge will be closed while a new pedestrian railing is installed. The closure could last a number of weeks.
The bridge opened last September, but remained with temporary railings until now.
It took two years to build the bridge, which replaced a 100-year-old, one-way span.
The nearly 600-foot long bridge features a new two-way car deck and a suspended walking bridge beneath the car deck.
It cost more than 19 million dollars to build.
