City hosting budget town hall meeting
July 27th, 2010 - 5:58am
(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles holds a public town hall on next year's budget tonight.
The city's manager and finance director will host the session at city hall beginning at six pm.
The city could face another million dollars in cuts for next year's spending plan. The city finance director Yvonne Zimkowski says its mainly due to the rough economy and a lack of sales tax revenues. The city has adequate reserves, but officials say they can't continue tapping the reserves without changes in the budget.
Tonight's Town Hall is part of a new outreach program the city is trying to get more information on what the public thinks the city should spend money on.
The city also sent out surveys this month asking residents to comment on some city services.
