Homeless man guilty of fraud

September 3rd, 2010 - 6:06am

(Port Angeles) -- A homeless man has pleaded guilty to passing phony checks in Port Angeles.

Twenty-nine-year-old Richard G. LeBlanc entered the pleas this week to first degree theft by deception, issuing bad bank checks and criminal impersonation.

LeBlanc was sentenced to serve four months in the Clallam County Jail with the agreement that he would be extradited to Colorado to face charges there.

In late May police investigated a possible fraud case at a downtown business. That led them to LeBlanc and also the discovery he was wanted in Colorado.

Police say the case was broken by an alert citizen who called police when they saw suspicious behavior in a business.
