Local hospitals may have referral option for out-of-town treatments

(Port Angeles) -- Patients needing medical services unavailable on the north Olympic Peninsula may soon have a new referral option.
The hospitals on the north Olympic Peninsula are exploring affiliating with a Seattle-area hospital. Under the idea, patients could be referred to the partner hospital for treatments not available at the hospitals in Port Angeles, Forks and Port Townsend.
The proposal is still in a preliminary stage. The three hospital districts are awaiting responses from letters sent out seeking potential partners.
