Sequim hires new marketing manager

September 7th, 2010 - 11:49am

(Sequim) -- The city of Sequim has a new marketing and communications manager.

Barbara Hanna was named to the job today by Sequim City Manager Steve Burkett.

Hanna has 29 years of experience working in the fields of public relations, advertising, project management and event planning.

She began her career in public relations for the Nordstrom company, and worked in marketing and P.R. for The Art Institute of Seattle.

For the past seven years she has focused on agri-tourism as the owner of the Lost Mountain Lavender farm in Sequim.

The city advertised earlier this year for what it planned as a three-quarters position to focus on marketing Sequim.

The new marketing manager would also serve as the communications point person for the city.

The job is expected to pay up to 60-thousand dollars. Half of the money comes from lodging tax.

Hanna will begin on September 13th.

Burkett says one of her key responsibilities will be to help the city improve awareness of citizen's and customer's priorities and how the city can change operations to meet those needs.
