(Port Angeles) -- A Port Angeles woman is dead after a head on collision Sunday morning on Highway 112.
The Washington State Patrol says 44-year-old Ellen Joan DeBondt died at the scene of the crash just before eight AM near Oxenford Road. DeBondt was a long-time nurse and had worked for Olympic Medical Center in its home health division.
24-year-old Amber Steim was booked into the Clallam County jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide. Troopers say Steim's 2005 Toyota Pickup crossed the center line and slammed into DeBondt's 1994 Chevrolet pickup.
Steim suffered minor injuries, was taken to the Olympic Medical Center and booked into the jail after being released.
A passenger in Steim's vehicle, 27-year-old Nicole Boucher, also suffered minor injuries but was taken from the scene in a private vehicle.
Troopers say drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and characterized the crash as a DUI.
The crash shutdown Highway 112 for most of the morning Sunday. The highway was not fully reopened until nearly six hours after the crash.
