Halibut Derby wraps

(Port Angeles) -- Two anglers took dead aim on the leader, but Chuck Brown of Renton withstood two challenges and won the $5,000 first prize in the 11th Port Angeles Halibut Derby Sunday.

Second money of $2,500 went to Bryan Johnson of Port Angeles who put a 107-pounder on the scale Sunday afternoon.

Third prize was $1,500 and went to Dale Clark of Shelton for a 106-pound fish he caught Sunday morning.

Chris Henderson of Sequim was fourth with a 70 and won $1,200, while Ryan Clark of Port Angeles won $1,100 for his 70-pound halibut.

Ten Port Angeles fishermen, one from Sequim, Joyce and Port Ludlow rounded out the Olympic Peninsula winners.

It took a 45 pounder to crack the 30-prize ladder.
