Fire damages Sequim garage

June 18th, 2012 - 8:19am

(Sequim) -- Neighbors complaining of smoke tipped a Sequim man that his garage was on fire.

Fire District Three crews were called to the garage in the 1000 block of Palo Verde Loop off west Spruce about 9:30.

Dispatchers received numerous calls about smoke in the area.

When they got there, firefighters found the rental home's garage fully involved in fire. One of the home's renters was home and able to get out after neighbors made him aware of the fire. The second renter, a 29-year-old man, returned to find the fire department at his home.

Crews kept the flames to the garage but the house suffered some smoke and water damage.

Fire District spokesman Patrick Young says the garage contained a Harley Davidson and various engine parts and tools. The garage and equipment outside of the garage were heavily damaged.

Investigators will be on scene today to determine the cause of the fire and come up with a damage estimate.
