County approved to find new Sequim licensing operator

(Port Angeles) -- Clallam County's auditor has the green light to find a new subagent to run the licensing office in Sequim.
The state Department of Licensing has told Patty Rosand she can move forward with officially advertising to re-open the office.
IT was shut down in May after the county terminated the contract with the previous operator citing accounting issues. The county administers a contract for the state to operate the spot in Sequim for renewing vehicle tabs and other licensing issues. The previous operator lost an appeal of the termination last month.
Rosand says she'll take applications for new subagents through July 27th. Interviews and site visits will follow. A recommendation will be made by the Auditor to the Department of Licensing and they will appoint the new subagent. Several months of training will take place in the Auditor's office to train the new subagent and the office can be fully reopened.
