Ballots out for August primary

(Port Angeles) -- Ballots should be arriving in local voters' mailboxes starting today.

Yesterday, the Clallam County auditor's office sent out just over 45-thousand ballots for the primary election.

Voters will be asked to winnow down five candidates for Clallam County commissioner and four candidates for Clallam County Superior Court. Voters in Clallam County will also be part of the primary for a new 6th District U.S. Congressman.

In Port Angeles, voters will be asked whether to approve a four million dollar bond issue to pay for improvements to aging Civic Field.

Sequim voters are being asked to raise sales taxes by a tenth of a percent to help pay for a new police station.

The ballots must be returned to an official drop box or postmarked by August 7th.
