Sequim's traffic roundabouts getting facelift

September 18th, 2012 - 6:28am

(Sequim) -- Sequim's roundabouts are getting work starting this week.

In what city officials call a safety improvement, the city's three roundabouts will get new paint and buttons among other changes.

Public work crews are starting with the roundabout at Sequim Avenue and Old Olympic Highway. The interior of the roundabout will be repainted, a double row of yellow buttons will be replaced on the perimeter of the circle, and four speed bumps will be added to the interior of the circle.

City street manager Mike Brandt says people often drive through the center circle of the roundabout. The double row of button signals "don't cross" and new speed bumps will remind you if they do.

The roundabout work should be finished by the middle of next month.
