Body found in local river officially ID'd

October 3rd, 2012 - 5:35am

(Port Angeles) --Clallam County sheriff's officials have confirmed the body found in the Lyre River late last week was that of a missing Port Angeles man.

50-year-old James Hopkins was reported missing from the Lyre River Campground Labor Day weekend.

Last Friday, deputies were called to the river when a citizen found a body in the river.

Chief criminal deputy Ron Cameron says crews initially determined the body was Hopkins after finding items nearby that matched his identity.

Cameron says an autopsy was scheduled, but there is nothing at this time that indicates Hopkins death is suspicious.
