Last public forum tonight on proposed county budget
October 4th, 2012 - 5:59am
(Sequim) -- A last public forum on Clallam County's budget for next year happens tonight in Sequim.
The county held similar public talks about the budget earlier this week in Port Angeles and Forks.
Tonight's forum starts at 6 pm at the Sequim Transit Center.
Administrator Jim Jones is presenting a balanced budget that shows about 31-million dollars in revenues and leaves about a 54-thousand dollar surplus.
No layoffs are included in next year's spending plan at this point.
However, the county will take another 16 unpaid furlough days again next year. The county did the same this year to help balance the budget.
County commissioners can still change the budget. They'll meet in the next few weeks with department heads to talk about budget requests.
Another series of public hearings will be held before a final budget is approved late this year.
