PREP FOOTBALL: Riders scuttled

(Kingston) -- The Kingston Buccaneers scored early, took a huge lead and walloped the Port Angeles Roughriders 40-7 to claim second place in the Olympic League and sent the Riders to their 9th straight setback.

Kingston scored on a 42-yard run by Nick Tabanara and on a 67-yard pass from Billy Reece to Henry English, then on a 25-yard fumble return by Aaron Dickson in the first period.

A 5-yard pass to We Chiquiti and a Dickson run of three yards made it 34-0 a the half.

Kingston scored on a Tabanara 68-yard run to start the third period and reserves played out the game.

Port Angeles could not get a drive going in the first half and scored in the fourth period when Brian Christion bulled over from the one after the team recovered a Buc fumble. Kingston had 337 yards of offense to just 123 for the Riders.

Bremerton beat Klahowya 56-13, North Mason topped Sequim, 28-6 and NK beat Olympic 29-12. Bremertonm, Kingston, NK and North Mason will represent the league in the first round of the playoffs next week.

Port Angeles and Sequim have no games scheduled for the last week of the season as of Friday night, but both schools are searching for 10th games.
