Sequim 10th, Port Angeles 92nd for retail sales tax collection per capita

(Port Angeles) -- The city of Port Angeles ranks 92 out of 280 cities in Washington state for taxable retail sales per capita.
The report out this week from the state Department of Revenue aims to show where people are spending money in municipalities across the state.
According to the report, Port Angeles had just under 139 million dollars in taxable retail trade last year with a population of about 19 thousand.
Sequim ranked tenth highest in the state with 170 million dollars in retail trade and a population of 66-hundred.
But state officials point out places like Sequim offer larger shopping opportunities that draw people from outside the city.
Clallam County had the 13th highest retail sales per capita last year with 465-million dollars of sales and a population of about 72-thousand.
The city of Burlington has the highest retail sales per capita for cities in the state of Washington, and Skagit County has the highest county figure.
