Election day arrives, 57 percent of vote back in Clallam

(Port Angeles) -- Heading into election day, voter turnout for Clallam County is at 57 percent.

Auditor Patty Rosand says another four thousand ballots were returned Monday from over the weekend.

Her office now has received back just under 29 thousand of the more than 47 thousand ballots sent out.

Voters must have ballots postmarked or in an official drop box by today to be valid.

Elections officials will release a count of ballots shortly after 8 pm tonight.

KONP will provide full election coverage of the national and local races beginning at four this afternoon as the polls begin to close across the country.
