Incumbents lead Peninsula legislative races, Kilmer wins seat in Congress

(Port Angeles) -- Incumbent 24th District Democratic Senator Jim Hargrove leads independent challenger Larry Carter with 68 percent of the vote.

Tallies include district-wide numbers.

Jim Hargrove (D) 18,046 68.75%

Larry Carter (I) 8,203 31.25%

Total Votes 26,249 100%

Incumbent 24th District Democratic Representative Steve Tharinger leads Republican Steve Gale with 62 percent of the votes.

The 24th District includes voters from Clallam, Jefferson and Grays Harbor Counties.

In the race to replace Norm Dicks in the U.S. House, Port Angeles native Derek Kilmer, a Democrat has won an apparent victory over Republican Bill Driscoll in the Sixth District.

Bill Driscoll(R) 69,283 41.02%

Total Votes 168,908 100%

The Sixth District includes Clallam, Grays Harbor, Kitsap, Jefferson and Pierce Counties.
