Car stolen, stripped from local dealership

November 7th, 2012 - 6:48am

(Port Angeles) -- Thieves apparently stole a car from a local car dealership, stripped it and left it abandoned near Port Angeles.

Monday, Ruddell Auto Mall reported someone smashed the window of a 2010 Scion xB van. Crooks took the lock box and returned later that night and drove the vehicle away.

Later Monday, Clallam County sheriff's deputies found the car abandoned on Place Road west of Port Angeles. The vehicle's wheels, most of the interior, seats and parts of the engine were missing.

Yesterday, investigators found the vehicle's seats at a location on the Lower Elwha Reservation.

Port Angeles and Lower Elwha Tribal police are working with the sheriff's department trying to find the suspects.

Meantime, they're asking auto dealers to be vigilant and take steps to protect vehicles on their lots. They also are asking dealer be on the lookout for parts that might be related to the theft.
